Our Website

Welcome to the website for the Pipers Area Residents Association.

This website has been built to provide easy access to the Association, an opportunity for open communication about issues and concerns affecting residents of the area and some basic information that will be helpful to anyone moving to, or living in, the 'Pipers' Area of Swindon, Wilts.

If you have a question you would like to raise or information you would like to pass on to the committee, or would like to contribute to this website with either information or images, please do contact us, we would love to hear from you.

Committee Members

Do you feel you know the area well? Are you well connected? Do you want to shape the future? Or just to ensure that your neighbours are heard?

The PaRa currently have a vibrant committee of all ages and backgrounds who keep the association going by researching local opinion and communicating with the council and other local bodies.  Most of the committee are standing for reelection at the AGM in March, but we would be very pleased to include some new ideas.

We have 2-4 vacancies for additional committee members. This really means finding 90 minutes most months to attend a meeting where we discuss issues affecting the area. And perhaps asking questions of your local neighbours and representing their views. Ideally we would like volunteers to be available on email as this is how we share most information.

If you are very organised we would be particularly interested in hearing from anyone who would be able to fill the role of Secretary to the committee.

If you would be interested in attending meetings and helping us to represent the residents of this area, please contact us

If you know of someone in the area that you think may be interested, please do pass on our contact details to them. The only pre-requisite is that committee members must live in the Pipers Area.  You can see a list of current members here (you will need to register with our site and log-in to see the details)

Feb 2012 Newsletter

Dear Residents

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us at the next Annual General Meeting of the Pipers Area Residents Association. Please note the change of location to the Moose Hall at the top of Eastcott Hill.

10.00am Saturday, 3rd March 2012

2011 has been a very busy year with many challenges. Now in 2012 we will consider the new opportunities of the Localism Bill, a central government initiative to bring democracy closer to the people. The need for a strong residents association has never been more important.

On this subject we are pleased that our local MP, Robert Buckland, has agreed to explain the government ideas for Localism.

You may also be aware that the whole of Swindon Borough Council are up for election in May this year. PaRa has always strived for a positive relationship with our ward councillors and we would like residents to have chance to meet the new faces who are standing for election in Old Town. We are pleased that the major parties have accepted our invitation to a mini-husting event at the end of the AGM, this is a chance for you to ask questions of the local politicians.

We are currently looking for a couple of additional members for the committee, please do contact us if you are interested.

After the meeting there will be refreshments and a chance to get to know the participants and your local neighbours.

Hope to see you at the meeting,

Best Regards,

Colin Doubleday

Chair, Pipers Area Residents Association

Vice Chair: Duncan Cunningham

Secretary: Linda Kasmaty

Treasurer: Susanne Webb
